Dr. Hossein Farhady
Dr. Hossein Farhady is a senior scholar and project manager at SLTI. Since joining SLTI in August 2007, he has managed test-item review projects for the Defense Language Institute and various ESL test scoring projects.

Before joining SLTI, Dr. Farhady was a professor of Applied Linguistics at the Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) in Tehran, Iran. He has taught courses on language testing, research methods, and ESP at the MA and PhD levels for the last three decades in Iran, Canada, Armenia, and the U.S.A.

Dr. Farhady has also presented papers at professional conferences such as TESOL, SLARF, AAAL, SCALAR, ECOLT, and LTRC, and has widely published on issues related to language testing. He has published more than 30 books and 50 articles on various topics in applied linguistics in general and in language assessment, in particular.

Dr. Farhady has directed MA programs in TEFL, two nationwide research projects on evaluating EFL learning in Iran, and has supervised over 60 MA and PhD theses. He has directed several test development and test validation projects in different places in the world. He received his MA in TESL and PhD in Applied Linguistics from UCLA in 1978 and 1980, respectively. His major interest is research on various aspects of language assessment.
